Of Infantile Habits: Richie’s Memories – Chapter Two
It was a new day.
I was coming from school, I a sophomore in high school and was ready excited for the summer to come. It was Friday and finally the weekend had come. I must admit, it was really nice to have a chance to relax. I was talking to my friend Phillip when I spotted my brother Henry walking with his girlfriend, Jenna. After seeing them, I walked to them with the intention of telling Henry to wait for me after class.
“Hey guys,” I said as I walked towards them. “I was looking for you, I was thinking we could go for a coffee after school.”
Jenna smiled at me. She was a nice girl, looking at me with those sparkling eyes. She had been my brother’s girlfriend for a year now, and she was really good looking. She cared deeply for both of us, but she eventually chose Henry because they were more alike. It’s okay, there were many things that made us great friends. I truly hoped we would stick together always.
“That is not a bad idea, Rich,” said Jenna and looked at my twin and her boy friend. “I think we’ve got a free period after Chemistry. What do you say, Hen?”
Henry, however, looked kind of troubled. “Well, guys, actually I wanted to meet Richie after school. You see, I need to talk about our History project. We are way behind, like, a lot… I would like to get my hands on it.”
I snorted. “Dude, we live together! I think it doesn’t matter at what time we start. Come on, Starbucks just opened near the park. I don’t know about you, but a Venti Latte is in order…”
“Richie, no,” said Herny defiantly. “We have that project. We’re going to fail, so I except you at home after school.”
I rolled my eyes. “Fine, boss.”
Jenna laughed. “We’ll go tomorrow, okay, Rich?”
“Yeah, okay…” I said with a smile.
I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.

I hate Math.
I mean, Math is important, right? We work in this world thanks to math. But why does it have to be so darn hard? I mean, it’s not normal. Not all of us are bright Einsteins that can solve every equation. I mean, who the hell discovered Diferential Calculus? It’s the worse! Certainly I’m not fond of that particular area, but I guess I have to put up with it a little longer so I can graduate, go to college and terminate the numbers.
Finally I arrived home, opening the door. I sing-sang. “Honey, I’m home!”
“Hey Richie!” exclaimed my younger sister Larisa. She walked to me, she was in her fourteen years old. She probably got home early too, everybody is so lazy on freshman year. “How did today go?”
“Good. I guess,” I said with a defeated sigh. “I wanted to hang out with the guys today, but you other older brother wanted to do homework.”
Larisa rolled her eyes. “He’s such a nerd!”
“Tell me about it,” I said with a laugh and stretched. My arms hurt a little bit.
Larisa looked at me. “Actually, he’s in your room. He told me to tell you to go see him when you arrived.”
“Oh really? He must be anxious to do that project. Thanks for the memo, sis, see you!” I said and kissed her cheek. I was like the most affectionate person in the world and I needed to have physical contact. It’s part of my personality. So I yawned again and walked up the stairs.
I dragged my humanity, I needed a nap.
Finally, after looking around, I reached my room. I opened the door, just to find Henry standing by my bed with folded arms and an overwhelmed expression. I got kind of nervous. Did I do something wrong? “Um… hey Henry. What’s up? Wanna work on the project?”
“Actually,” he began to tap on the floor. “I wanted to talk to you about something quite… disquieting.”
Uh oh. Fancy words. He only uses fancy words when he’s serious. “Yes?”
He moved from the bed, exposing my baby diapers, and my pacifier. I froze. Actually my blood never ran so cold. I think I paled. Busted. I was busted. He knew. He freaking knew! He found my stash! I think I started to tremble as I saw that, it was so freaking. He raised an eyebrow and looked at me seriously, and concerned.
“It’s… it’s…” I began, but I didn’t know what to say.
“It’s a diaper. Lots of diapers actually,” said Henry as he looked at me nervously. “Listen, I really don’t know what to think about this. Is this some kind of joke or what? I mean, I’ve never seen this before. And I caught you sucking your thumb the other day…”
My eyes started to water. I was trembling. “Listen, Hen… I… I don’t expect you to understand. But the thing is… I like them…”
“Pardon me?” said Henry, shocked.
“I like it, okay?!” I snapped. My joy had turned into pain. “It’s called Paraphilic Infantilism, right? I like to wear diapers and… be a baby…”
He stood there, frozen, pale. “You’re serious?”
“Yes,” I said, looking down, ashamed. “I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. I’m… hiding it from you. From everybody. I… this is me… okay?”
Henry looked down, and he sighed.
He walked by me, opened the door, and left me alone in the room.
