Deena’s Diaper Days – Chapter Three

Deena’s Diaper Days – Chapter Three.

Math class was always long, but today it seemed absolutely endless to Geraldine as she stared out the window. The professor was droning about the results of the previous week’s test, which she had done well on.

“And so,” he was saying, pointing to a problem on the board “just because this equation uses Pi does not mean that we are necessarily using the area of a circle. Now, I had a feeling a few of you would make that mistake when I wrote the test, because I put it in to see how many of you would catch this exponent…”

Geraldine yawned. She had no difficulty with the problem the professor was going on about. She checked the black and white classroom clock. Only an hour had passed since she sat down. The class would continue to run for an hour more.

Geraldine opened her math notebook and began scribbling at the corners of the pages, waiting patiently for the professor to finish and hoping that the class wouldn’t be dedicated to test review. Her eyelids felt limp and heavy. Geraldine struggled to keep them open. She had already had a rough enough sleep after that awful dream the night before. She certainly didn’t want to take a nap in the middle of class!

She looked down at her notebook. She had drawn figure eights in the margins of the page. The curvy shapes reminded her of pacifiers somehow, which, in turn, reminded her of the old doll sitting in her room.

That’s it! she realized, tapping her pencil several times against the page in silent victory. No wonder I had those weird dreams! I was thinking about babies and little kids yesterday after going to the toy store. She let out a quiet, relieved sigh. Behind her neutral expression, she’d been secretly worrying about the dream all day.

Geraldine took a sip of her water bottle and copied a few of the teacher’s scribbly notes from the whiteboard, her mind finally focused on the lesson.

Why does it have to be so hot today? I should have brought my parasol. Geraldine grumbled internally as she chugged her fourth water bottle of the day. Despite the heat, her stomach felt like a cold water balloon as she walked back to her dorm.

The inside of the dorm building was not air conditioned, but it was cooler than outside because of several well-placed box fans in the windows. Geraldine was grateful for the temperature change. She gently placed the water bottle in a recycling bin and headed up the stairs towards her dorm room.

“How many of those have you had today, Dean?!” a bug-eyed Veronica asked as Geraldine grabbed yet another water bottle from their mini fridge.

“It is sweltering outside,” Geraldine said. “I don’t really care for drinking water, but it does keep me cool. You should try it.”

“I just think that mebbe you should try something tastier,” Veronica said, holding up a can of cold soda.

“No thanks,” Geraldine sniffed. “Soda pop upsets my stomach. Besides, it’s horrible for you.”

“Don’t you really have to pee after all that?”

“Veronica!” Geraldine shuddered. “Gross! Must you to ask that?”

“I’m just sayin’,” Veronica shrugged. “If I drank like that, I’d be peein’ all day.”

Geraldine did indeed have to use the restroom, but she didn’t want her blunt roommate to know. So, she waited a few minutes before leaving the dorm room and heading down the hall. The janitor had just finished cleaning and was busy moving the wet floor sign out of the doorway. Geraldine smiled faintly. She much preferred using a freshly cleaned bathroom to the filthy one that was created in the Janitor’s weekend absence.

There was a loud shout from around the corner, and Geraldine suddenly found herself sprawled on the ceramic bathroom floor with a sweaty young man and a worn football crashed in her lap. It was one of the boys from the second floor.

“Oh god,” he said, picking himself up. “I didn’t expect anyone to be standing there. You okay?”

“Nnnrgh…” Geraldine’s insides writhed with pain.

“Seriously, you gonna be okay? Oh man. I really didn’t think anyone would be there. I’m so stupid. You need a nurse?”

Geraldine shook her head.

“I just… need a minute… thank you…” she gasped, gently rubbing her sore stomach. She was dizzy from the impact.

“Oh god, you’re not bleeding are you?!”

Geraldine’s eyes popped open. Her vision was fixed on the boy’s face, then slowly, nervously trailed down to her stomach, and then her abdomen. A large, wet stain was spreading across her dark leggings.

The force had caused her to accidentally wet. For Geraldine, last night’s dream may has well have come true.
